International Undergraduate Program

The School of Engineering aims for students to acquire a solid foundation of engineering knowledge and develop the capability to understand and explain a broad range of issues, bases on the principles and laws of basic science, such as physics and chemistry. The School also strives to enable students to develop their intellect and sense of ethics, always focusing on efforts to “cultivate engineers who contribute to society’s sustainable development.” Moreover, the School aims to educate students with a global perspective for the improvement of industrial and scientific technologies.

The International Undergraduate Program invites applicants:

Who have a deep interest in Aerospace Engineering
Who are highly motivated to achieve excellence in the field and want to contribute to their country and establish themselves in a global society, by systematically studying academic subjects that are cornerstones of Japan’s technological development.
Who have a strong sense of responsibility to “contribute to society’s sustainable development” from an international perspective and want to develop and improve their global expertise.
Who want to improve their foreign language proficiency and their cross-cultural communication skills to establish themselves in today’s global society.

International Graduate (Master’s and Doctoral) Programs

Our international graduate programs have started October 2011.

Curriculum Policy

Aeronautics and Astronautics aim at the development of the advanced industrial fields necessary to expand the human sphere of activities. The educational goal of this study is to foster researchers, technical experts, and educators who have acquired integrated skills as well as highly advanced expertise and internationality through the mastery of theoretical concepts of engineering based on the mechanics and pursuit of system engineering peculiar to the development of the aircraft and spacecraft. In addition, it aims at nurturing the abilities to find the tasks that may be generated through the expansion of the operational areas of the aircraft and spacecraft and to contrive the unique solution for them. For this goal, our department sets the curriculum policy as follows.

Teach the highly specialized subjects and the advanced academic subjects regarding the various fields of engineering and science
Implement the educational research that reasonably integrates the technology and academic studies in the various fields of engineering and science
Foster the human resources who have the capability to work in a wide range of fields requiring advanced technology and information
Aim at the mastery of “Integrated Engineering” and “System Engineering” needed to integrate studies from multiple fields while also being able to demonstrate exceptional mathematical precision.
Aim at the mastery of “Applied Mechanics” that enables the construction of mathematical models of various problems by applying the mechanics and to make a deduction of the phenomenon based on the basic information on the phenomenon or the theory of natural sciences
Nurture the ability to contrive unique ideas for technical tasks or the academic studies in the undeveloped fields
Nurture the ability to communicate internationally through the experiences of attending academic meetings and making presentations there
Actively promote support measures for the applicants to the doctoral courses

Admission Policy

The field of Aeronautics and Astronautics aims at the development of the advanced industrial fields necessary for the expansion of the human sphere of activities. It can be said that Aeronautics and Astronautics are very peculiar among other industrial fields in that it deals with such specified “vehicles” as aircraft and spacecraft. The educational goal of this study is to foster researchers, technical experts, and educators who have acquired integrated skills as well as highly advanced expertise and internationality through the mastery of theoretical concepts of engineering based on the mechanics and research of system engineering peculiar to the development of aircraft and spacecrafts. With this goal in mind, we expect those who aim to specialize in this department to meet the following qualifications.

Applicants must have the passion to make developments in the sky and space fields
Have obtained the basic academic skills to reasonably integrate studies from multiple fields within engineering and science.
Have learned the basics of “Integrated Engineering” and “System Engineering” needed to conduct and integrate research in multiple fields work while also being able to demonstrate exceptional mathematical precision.
Have learned the basics of “Applied Mechanics” that enables one to construct mathematical models of various problems by applying mechanics and to be able make a deduction of the phenomenon based on the basic information on the phenomenon or the theory of the natural sciences.
Motivated to actively challenge the undeveloped fields of technical tasks or academic studies generated by the expansion of the operational areas for the aerospace planes.
Strongly motivated to enhance the internationalization indispensable to the research and development of state of the art study fields.
